It’s Thursday morning, nearly 8 am and I’m working on finishing up building Color Your Dream. I’m super excited because it’s almost done and ready for y’all. Woo hoo! So I thought it would take me at least 2 weeks to write it up and build it, but alas, when your hair is on fire and you get a motivational bug up your ass, things get done much quicker than you can possibly imagine.
Simply put, nothing is more motivating than when you have something to say and share, and you just cannot keep it inside of yourself any longer.
Keeping quiet? Nope..you’ll find none of that here.
Silencing my voice? Hell no! I got something to say and share so I’m going to get it out there.
Am I bottling up what I got to say and keeping it hidden from the world? Not anymore! I’m letting it all out there.
I’m done being quiet. I’m done keeping things to myself. I have spent too many years silencing my voice out of fear. Fear of what people might say about me. Fear of being criticized. Fear of being fired or written up at my shitty jobs.
I kept quiet all that time because that is what I was taught. I was told that I needed to keep my opinions, joy, happiness, intelligence and humor to myself if I wanted to ‘fit in’ or excel at my jobs or be successful. I dumbed myself down, agreed with and sometimes did things that I knew were wrong or unethical, and kept quiet too many damn times to count.
Now, silence is not an option for me.
And it shouldn’t be for you either.
You don’t have to silence your voice and sit meekly in the corner though you have things you want to share. You don’t have to ‘bite your tongue’ (I hate that phrase cause if you’ve ever bitten your tongue, it sucks and hurts a lot) and hold in whatever it is that you want to say. You don’t have to be quiet.
You have something to say. I know you do. Everyone does.
So I’m taking a bit of a breather from ecourse creation so bring you another fabulous interview with another awesome and rocking entrepreneur. Her name is Natascha and what she does as a website developer and artist over on her site The Pixiedust Solution is simply amazing (and you can hire her too!)
The Pixie Dust Solution is a one women web design boutique with a fairytale twist. I focus on WordPress web design, specializing in the Genesis Framework – or to say it non techy: I create beautiful digital fairytales for creative entrepreneurs who are not afraid of glitter.
What is your background? How did you get started doing web design?
That’s really a long and twisted story. I have been a nerd girl even before the Internet knew what a nerd girl was. Even before the Internet existed. I got my first computer at the tender age of 10 – and from there, it just got more intense. I made webpages with html and css long before WordPress was a thing.
But I never thought of making a business out of it. I guess the fear of not having learned things “properly” (as you do it in Germany by going to university and study it) held me back for a long time. So I dived into various other projects, and the website was always the first thing that was done.
Before the Pixiedust Solution I designed and created my own jewelry under the brand “Purple Peacock”, but after three years I came to the conclusion that a product based business wasn’t the right fit for me and my family.
And to be totally honest, the thought of spending ten hours straight at my workbench freaked me out. But time really flew by fast when I was working on the website and giving it yet another redesign.
I also teach dance, and after I made a website for my dance teaching in just one night, I had the revelation. Well, I didn’t come with bells and fairies singing and glitter slowly falling on my desk, but it hit me quiet hard: This is what I wanted to do. This was my mission: to help other creatives to get beautiful websites.
The most things regarding computers and applications come quiet naturally to me. I have taught myself a lot about different programs I now use on a regular basis. And if I don’t know the solution to a tech-problem, I do everything to learn as much as possible and test, tweak and implement all I learn until the problem is solved.
But I have realized that what comes naturally to me isn’t natural for everybody. And that many people struggle to bring their websites to live. They try to do it by themselves but they spent too much time on it and get super frustrated by the process. And then, they hop on some website builder which leaves them with a cookie cutter site that does not reflect who they are or the beautiful things they are offering.
My mission is to help those people with my services, to give them the help they need and can afford so that they can focus on the things they love to do.
What can your customers expect when they hire you? What solutions do you offer?
My urge is to learn as much as possible about my clients and their businesses. I can only serve them best when I have a genuine understanding of what they do. It’s also super important for me that my clients feel save along the way with me. Designing a website and bringing a vision to live is something very personal and intimate, and it takes you to another level of vulnerability once you invite the world to see what you have to offer. I am there for my client, holding their hands the whole way. I don’t hide behind some strange tech talk or code.
My services at the moment include three website packages, starting from a simple landing page to a more elaborate website set up. I also offer “The Looking Glass” which is a free service for my email subscribers where they can request custom WordPress tutorials. In the future I plan to add a full blown decadent website package as well as WordPress ecourses.
Who is your typical customer?
My customers come from a wide variety of backgrounds: I have coaches from different fields (health, wellness, life) as well as product based businesses. But they all have something in common: they are passionate about their businesses and not afraid to stand out.
What is unusual or unique about The Pixie Dust Solution, in comparison to your competitors or similar businesses?
Web design follows trends, as everything else does. My approach though might be a bit unusual: instead of chasing those trends I rather create websites that truly reflect the heart and soul of the businesses and the respective owners behind those businesses.
My goal is to create unique websites that stand out and not to create yet another sleek feminine chic elegant (insert buzz-word of your choice) website that will be out of trend next season.
I guess it depends on who you are asking. Some people adore my approach (they can’t get enough of the sparkles), while others don’t like it (they obviously can’t stand the sparkles). But I’m fine with that. I can’t please everybody. But I am super passionate to help those who are not afraid to sparkle.
Is there a customer experience you are most proud of?
Every client is different, so it’s hard to compare the projects I have worked on. But I guess the thing I am most proud of is that people trust me with their projects. And that they chose me to bring their websites into this world. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about it.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with my readers?
Oh this is a hard one… I think I could share so many things I have learned throughout my entrepreneurial journey.
The most valuable business advice I have gotten until now: Everything has been done before. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Don’t chase something totally new and never heard of because it doesn’t exist. The most important thing is to take this idea and make it 100 % YOU. No excuses, no apologies. Be YOU and don’t be afraid of it.
I’ve been up since 3 AM. Yep, you read that right. Three O’fucking clock in the morning.
I didn’t go back to sleep cause I couldn’t. I had to start working.
Writing, building, editing, creating… It’s taken over my brain and my life.
I have big plans for this ecourse, Color Your Dream. And right now I’m in action, getting all the happy parts and activities written so that you, my dear reader, can join me on this crazy happy fun and color filled journey.
It’s so much fun, but I needed a break to get something off of my chest.
Launching this course is BIG deal to me. A really big deal. And there it is. This ecourse means a lot to me. I want people to like it. I want them to like me. I want to share it with as many people as I can and to help as many people as I can. Writing it up has been a joy and a pleasure and I cannot remember the last time I ever gave myself so completely and worked so ‘hard’ at something. I’m having the time of my life, all wrapped up creating it and I’m having a good time….
And then it strikes me.
It sneaks in like a thief in the night.
I feel it creep into my solar plexus. My shoulders tighten up. My stomach grumbles.
My big fears start to creep in and decide to throw a party when I’m not looking. Fuckers didn’t even invite me! Hrrmmph……
I have to silence them before they get out of control.
So the ‘what if’s’ they show up first to the party and flood my brain with thoughts like….
What if people don’t like me? What if they don’t like my website? What if they don’t like my ecourse? What if they don’t buy it? What if….what if…what if?
and then the ‘I should’s’ take over. They piss me off with thoughts like..
I should probably change the course. I should write more, edit more, make it fancier, make it more complicated. Maybe I should wait and do more research and … Maybe I should just give up cause this is silly and stupid and…..
REALLY? What a load of shit!!!
Finally, the OMG’s, the late arrivals to the party. They are the worst of the party crashers!
OMG, what in the fuck am I doing? OMG, have I lost my mind? OMG, do I even know what the hell it is that I am doing? OMG, how do I do this? OMG, I haven’t a damn clue what I am doing.
SO…it’s time to deal with these guys, these fears. I’m crashing their party, calling the cops and kicking them out.
Now, it’s normal to have fear. It’s ok to have fear. It’s not ok though, to let them control your life and stop you dead in your tracks. (and throw a party and not invite you!! ha ha)
I’m digging in my toolbox and starting with EFT (emotional freedom techniques) and tapping.
Next thing out of the toolbox will be a short meditation to quiet my mind.
And last, I will do some yoga later….and that will be that!
Sunday Sunday….supposed to be my ‘day off’ to rest and recuperate and do whatever the fuck I want to do like eat ice cream and watch movie marathons and putter around like a slugs (can slugs putter?)
But I cannot unplug.
I am too goddamn excited. Too excited, too revved up and full of energy. Happiness and excitement surround me and OMG…I just cannot stop working.
Even when I want to.
Even when I have promised myself ONE day off per week
I cannot stop!!
So what’s happened? Well, I started creating an ecourse a few weeks ago because fuck it, I have learned so many awesome things about creating your own dream life and using the Law of Attraction to manifest what you want that I have to share them with the world.
I. MUST. SHARE. THEM.
And so the creation of the course has been taking over my life and it’s been incredible. So damn incredible that I cannot STOP! WTF?
I was never like this in a normal job. Ever. Even when I was drinking 2 pots or more of coffee a day. Even when I was on antidepressants. Even when I would get enough sleep. I’d go to my shitastic day job and be wiped out by 10 am, ready to nap by noon and devising ways to harm others by 3 pm.
Now, holy shit! I’m up before dawn and I’m working for hours on end with out breaks. Without remembering to eat sometimes. It’s crazy awesome.
Now that is crazy! Who the hell forgets to eat?
and OMG …The New Course. Color Your World. Color Mindset Coaching. Personalized, Easy, Fun To Do. For now, I’m going to get back to work. On Sunday. My day off….ha ha
People like my next interviewee make me so jealous sometimes because they make building websites look sooo easy! I just love that. My friend Patricia Talavera is both an artist and computer wiz and a while ago, she honored me with an interview about her business, Save Your Time Business Solutions, building custom websites for people which are both beautiful and reasonably priced.
Save Your Time Biz Solutions helps other women entrepreneurs play in their zone of genius by them allowing us to play in ours: web design. We help them get out there in a really BIG way online and they finally have the time to do the type of work that they love.
What is your background?
My background is in psychology, I actually have a Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. It seems kind of random that I’m in computers now but not really because my father was a computer geek and raised me to love them too.
What inspired you to create Save Your Time Biz Solutions?
My sister and I started our company, BCB Staffing LLC in 2010, because we realized that no matter how much we loved our work, we wouldn’t be happy in a traditional job. It always meant working harder for someone else and constantly having to put our families (and sometimes our sanity) on the back burner. So we decided to create our own opportunities and start a business helping women entrepreneurs.
Save Your Time Biz Solutions was created two years ago when my business partner and I went to a retreat and realized that we just needed a new slate. Our vision was to take over the tech stuff for women biz owners so that they can focus on their zone of genius.
What do you offer your clients? What can they expect from you?
We help our clients step up and be seen, by creating an online space that they can actually be excited to share. We offer them the chance to focus on the things they do best, while we take the time to understand their vision and how we can translate it into an awesome website that will catch a prospect’s eye and leaves them wanting to know more.
Our clients can expect to be an integral part of the process, after all it’s their site, they should be a part of making it come to life. They can also expect that we’re here every step of the way, even after we hit publish (because let’s face it sometimes the biggest issues happen after you’ve decided everything is good to go). There’s no such thing as a stupid question, after all this is our zone of genius not yours so it’s expected that there are some things you don’t know.
Who is your ideal client?
Our ideal client is a woman entrepreneur who has her business model intact. She knows what type of clients she works with and already has a client base she loves. So far she’s been taking a DIY approach to her website, now she’s ready to hand it off so she can focus on the things in her business that she actually loves to do.
What make Save Your Time Biz Solutions unique in comparison to other similar businesses?
We believe in quality over quantity. We believe in putting our families first. We believe in working with clients who we love and who love us back…hopefully equally…if not a little more. Because we’re mom business owners. So we get what that’s like, enough said.
What is your best customer story?
Last year we connected with a small business owner who had been having a rough time and was on the verge of closing her business. We created a whole new identity for her, with a brand new logo and a new website to show her off as the professional that she is. As a part of her rebrand we also created brand new graphics for her to use on her social media profiles, so that she would have a consistent brand. A year later, her business is thriving with sales that have increased 1000% and a recent launch into direct sales.
Do you have a newsletter or other way you keep in touch with your customer base?
Yes, we have an e-zine that we send out, pretty regularly. We also recently launched our Entrepreneur INSYT interview series, which features all the fabulous women entrepreneurs we’ve met on our journey. The interviews are shared on our blog weekly.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with my readers?
One of the things I love about working for myself, is that I can make decisions based on what feels right to me. Recently my biz partner and I decided we wanted to use our company to give back so we decided to launch our passion project, Operation SYT Launch, which provides low cost starter websites to anyone who is affiliated with the military. If you know someone who might be interested, they can find out more at operationsytlaunch.com.
I love artists. I really really do! My mom is an artist and I grew up watching her paint and create the most beautiful paintings and drawings.
Anyway…since I started this interview series, I’ve gotten to meet and talk to some very talented and amazing artists. Today’s interviewee, Judith Alkema, owner and creator of Graphictional Design, is one of those artists who make it look so easy and fun. I am in awe! I am not kidding! Check out her work AND her interview. She is awesome!
Take it away, Judith!
Graphictional Design: An Interview with Judith Alkema
It’s a one-woman on-line bespoke branding station – original graphic design for other female solopreneurs! Any images you need for your microbusiness, I’ll create and hand-paint digitally from the ground up.
Tell me a bit more about yourself – what’s your background?
I’m a Canadian entrepreneur and autodidact who’s spent a lot of time living and traveling overseas; I’ve taught, made art, created programs and classes, run a number of microbusinesses, and had some extensive cross-cultural experiences. I’m an artist, a bard, a creative, a designer, an educator, fix-it, gardener, home schooled…. yeah, I could go through the rest of the alphabet!
I was spending a lot of time making images, both for my mini-company and just to feed my own creative side, and I also noticed that there were a lot of other women getting bold and using the Net to start their own businesses – but on a start-up budget they were often limited to clip art, packaged graphics, and stock photos to try to express their unique ideas. And I found I had a knack for bringing out their identity visually, to create an atmosphere which is all their own, so I expanded from just doing logos to full branding packages.
I really like the concept of designing brands and logos to reflect the overall design and vision of the business and having worked with a few graphic designers, I know that this can sometimes be a challenge. How do you handle that challenge?
I ask my client to begin with a short style quiz that helps both of us focus in on some of the essentials of her business. I want to know what her values are and how she wants to be perceived. Then we do a free-hour-consult session to get even closer to the heart of that. Once you’ve conveyed your vision, I transform that into visuals – we choose a palette, a style, shapes, mood, even the fonts, that will all support the concept at the heart of your offerings.
Who is your ideal client?
Womentrepreneurs who have a strong business concept and some offerings ready to put out there. Heart-centred, caring, healing, wise, homely…those are my favorite kinds of people and projects to work with.
And what sort of services do you offer them?
I’ll quote from my ‘What Do You Get’ list! “Creative, innovative, bespoke, one-of-a-kind designs – personal attention to all aspects of your small-business branding with both holistic & detail focus – vintage, retro, classic, warm, intimate, natural stylings – fine art & custom illustration applied to your unique personality, business, niche & clientele – adaptability, diversity, responsiveness & affordability”! You can cherry-pick off the A La Carte menu, choose from three different branding packages, or negotiate your own package with me.
What sort of experience do you hope your clients have working with you?
My clients say things like ‘effortless’, ‘intuitive’, ‘collaborative’, ‘fun experience’, ‘exciting’. I always tell them I provide graphantastic service for graphantastic clients! No, but really; I’m dedicated to making sure you get what you want, with way more reworks than most designers will give you. I won’t take more than three clients a week so that I can focus on each individual with the maximum amount of my creative energy, and if I get consistent quick feedback, you’ll get a great turn-around time. So I provide one-on-one direct attention and almost hourly responses.
Do you have a ‘best client’ story?
They’re almost all awesome! If I had to pick a favorite, it might be the steampunk flying puppy. I did this logo for an FB friend who was starting her own dog-walking business called ‘Go, Dog, Go’. I used a photo of her dog and created a colourful zeppelin with the dog stretched out ‘flying’ underneath, like the basket/pilot. She wrote back: “The paws are perfect, absolute awesomeness. Everyone who knows Tansy who has seen the logo says that you captured her perfectly!”
Great! Do you have anything else you’d like to share with my readers?
There’s a free style quiz under the Portfolio tab you’re welcome to take, to help you find focus, and I’m still offering a Vision Board special, throughout the year. I really believe that your solopreneur business revolves around your vision – your unique perspective and gifts and talents and beliefs and passions – and focusing in on that vision is the best way to be able to offer it to the world! Tobi, thanks so much for this chance to chat with you today. It’s been fab.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately about subconscious blocks. Not the kind you build stuff with, but the kind in our minds and hearts. The blocks I’m talking about hold us back from what we want to do and achieve.
So what is a block? Well, it’s found in our sub-conscious and is based on some belief we have. I’m not going to go into detail because there are tons of books on the subject that you can read. These strong held beliefs, they hold us back and we don’t even know it. And the other thing about them is that they can be about anything. Money, success, love, relationships, body image..you name it. And they are a pain in the ass.
What can you do about them?
5 Easy Steps To Removing Your Blocks To Success
(so you can have everything you want!! WOO HOO!)
1. Identify your blocks
Do you find yourself wanting to make more money or lose weight or find a boyfriend/girlfriend, but it never works out?
You are probably have a block when it comes to whatever the thing is that you desire. To identify the block, you need to write down what you feel when you think about the thing you want. Here’s an example from my own list about money:
Rich people are greedy, mean, ugly and horrible people and I don’t want to be like them. Having money turns people into self righteous assholes. I fear that I will never have enough money.
Make your own list.
2. Identify what emotions arise when you read your list.
Next to every item on your list, write down what emotion you feel immediately when you read it. Do the things on your list make you happy? Sad? Angry? Resentful? Joyful?
For my example above, I pretty much felt angry and resentful when I read those items.
3. Create an opposite list
For this one, you are going to want to take every item on your list and write an opposite statement. Basically you are reframing all of the items on your list.
Using my list above, here are my opposite statements
Rich people are generous, kind and wonderful people and I want to be like them. Having money turns people into loving and caring people. I will always have enough money.
4. Read your new opposite list and note your new emotions
When reading your new list, take note of your emotions again. If you are feeling any sort of negative emotions like anger or resentment again, you need to rewrite the opposite statements until they do not bring up any negative emotions for you.
5. Review your opposite list frequently
Whenever you start to feel any negative emotions towards something that is on your original list, be it from something in your life, get out your new opposite list and read it. After a while, you will notice that your block will start to dissipate and you’ll see and feel your life change.

Over here on A Dream Created Life, I really believe that people have the power to change their lives and live their dreams. I’m super lucky too in that I have found a tribe of people just like me, who believe we have the right to be happy, to live life on our terms and to create a life of happiness and joy. One of those people is Joanna Hennon, the creator and owner of The Creation Space who I decided to feature on today’s blog.
The Creation Space is a place to develop the self-love and self-awareness necessary to allow a stronger spiritual connection – to your intuition, your soul, and your spirit guides. I believe that we all have access to the infinite wisdom and possibilities, at soul level. Accessing this wisdom is possible for everyone, we just need to quiet down our minds and practice trusting what comes through. The best way I have found to access soul wisdom is through intuitive creativity, and this is what we do in The Creation Space. I tap into the energy of the group every week to see what blocks, beliefs or attitudes need to be addressed at the collective level so that every individual has the support they need to take another step forward on their path. I then channel a process that will help with that – always something creative, sometimes mandalas, sometimes automatic writing, sometimes journaling, etc. The one constant is that we start each month with a vision board for the month, to get focused and in alignment with the soul level.
Tell me a little bit about your background.
Sure! 🙂 A few years ago I was working in a super stressful job and ended up having a breakdown due to stress and fatigue. My recovery process included sessions with a friend who worked as an intuitive coach, and this led me to an intuitive art program. The program turned out to be so much more than intuitive art, and opened up a world of possibilities for me. This is where I learned to channel, met my guides for the first time, got to know myself at a totally different level, and where I got up the courage to start working with people. Intuitive art changed my whole life, and now I have incorporated it into The Creation Space so that others can benefit from it too.
I wanted to have a way of working with people over a long period of time, and wanted to make this affordable. The Creation Space is the result. The thing with intuitive and personal development work is that it’s every day. It’s not a monthly session with someone, it’s not a once-in-a-while thing. It’s every day and it’s intense. I wanted to support people through that, and to make it fun and gratifying, too. So in The Creation Space we play with oracle cards, with art, with each other. We chat every day in the group (on Facebook) and so we always have the soul connection in mind. This helps create life in a different way.
When I read the description for the Creation Space, I wanted (and still do want) to join because it seems to be a blending of the Law of Attraction, creativity and intuition to create a dream life. All things that I really love and am connected with as well. How did you come up with the concept of blending these three concepts?
What we do in The Creation Space is what I use to create my own life. I blended these concepts because these are the concepts that I see working over and over again. You need to work with the Law of Attraction to make it easier for yourself to attract more of what you want. And this is isn’t just a matter of thinking positive, it’s more that by being very mindful of what you’re creating around you you’ll get a better understanding of how things work and how you can use the system, so to speak. You also need to get comfortable with your intuition, your inner voice, and learn to trust it. This takes time and practice, and a whole lot of self-awareness. Creativity brings it all together, it’s a tool of getting insights that you wouldn’t otherwise have access to because they’re buried under all the noise of the ego.
Who is your ideal client?
Anyone who’s willing to take action and do the inner work! I don’t do excuses or complaining – yes, sometimes things are hard, but you always have a choice as to how you react to them. You always have the choice to see the lesson, to learn and move on. The people I work with are ready to take responsibility for the lives they are creating, and I love them for their courage.
One of our lovely members said that she has learned more about herself in the past few months than she had over her life until now! This is really the essence of The Creation Space – knowing and understanding yourself in a different way, as a powerful being with purpose.
Another said that it’s a “wonderful small group of like-minded people helping each other discover and uncover themselves and each other’s blocks and strengths through creativity. It’s helped me discover blocks I have always felt but never been able to identify.”
We’re all about the community, we were never meant to go on this journey alone!
What do you hope your students achieve and learn by being a member of the Creation Space?
My intention is for you to become more self-aware of yourself, what you’re creating and how things are playing out around you. This is really the first step to living with soul purpose. Lots of fun things happen during this process, as you open up to your true self and your power. Things shift. Your intuition becomes stronger, you may start working with your Spirit Guides, you may find the courage to start a business, you may find that suddenly perfect opportunities come your way. This stuff is magic! 🙂

I really do love chatting about anything linked to spirituality, personal development or business, and you we can do that in the free group I run on Facebook – join us here: You Can Create Your World
Hi! I’m Joanna. I’m a channel for the spirit guides, intuitive creativity guide, soul message interpreter and spiritual teacher. My mission is to show you that you already have all the wisdom you could ever need, at soul level. The trick is to learn to access it and trust it, so that you can tap into it whenever you need to.
Rejected. I’ve been rejected. And guess what? It’s not the end of the world! The sky hasn’t fallen in. I didn’t spontaneously combust. My head didn’t fall off of my body.
I entered a blogging contest last month and I was sure I was going to win. I was positive when I entered my post that I was going to win! My blog post was going to be mentioned and sent out in an email to 60k people on their mailing list. It would be super successful and awesome.
Sadly, I didn’t win though. Wah! I didn’t even get an honorable mention.
At first I was like, “What? My entry is good and funny and awesome!! Everyone should love it and share it and tell their kids, parents, bestfriends, and everyone about it! I poured my heart into my post! Wasn’t that what we were supposed to do?”
Then I went and looked at some of the winning blogs. Every one of them has a slick website that was obviously put together by a professional web guru ninja master. Mine are all DIY and could probably do with a bit of a makeover, but that supposedly didn’t matter for the contest. Another thing I noticed as I started to peruse the winning blog posts was that all of the winners used one of the super guru ‘write exactly like this and your post will go viral and you will have a million readers in an hour’ formulas that is taught by the website and guru that held the contest. I thought I had done that with my post but, maybe I didn’t. Hmm….You know, back in the day, blogging was all about being yourself, not following some magic formula or planting magic beans in your posts. I guess times have changed.
So what does this mean in the big scheme of things. Am I a failure or a loser? Are my blogs doomed to languish in obscurity because I didn’t use some special magical formula, use the magic beans, drink the magic purple juice or follow some set of arbitrary rules that determine whether a blog is successful or not? Am I a terrible writer? Do I need to write my blog and do exactly everything the way that some super guru blogging expert and his merry band of followers does? What does it mean? What do I do now?
I’ll tell you what it means: Nothing. I wrote my blog. I entered it in the contest. I didn’t win. The end.
I’m not going to quit blogging or writing or learning all I can to be a better and successful writer. I’m not going to sit here all day in a puddle of tears and gorge myself on a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and pizza. I’m not going to get angry and quit. I’m going to take it for exactly what it is. A call for me to keep working and learning and growing and writing and doing what I am doing because I love it.
And in the big scheme of things and vision I have for my life, losing this contest and being rejected is just a blip on the never ending story that is my life. It’s not a reflection of me or my life.
I know these things to be true, contest or no contest:
I’m a good person.
I am a good writer.
I fit my own mold, not some cookie cutter mold.
I create my life.
My life is good.
And no harm. No foul. At least I had the courage to try!
Have you ever tried something new and been rejected or entered a contest and not won? I want to hear from you. Share your stories in the comments below.
Have you ever had a massage? If you haven’t, I highly suggest getting one at least once in your life. It is by far one of the best ways to release tension, relax your muscles and overall, they make you feel oh soo good! Lucky for me, I know a few fabulous massage therapists.
One of them is my dear friend, Priscilla Davis who is the owner and creator of A Mother’s Touch Massage therapy. Lucky for me, she was kind enough to talk to me about what she does in her business to help women, especially mothers, relax and feel good. Let’s hear what Priscilla has to say!
A Mother’s Touch Massage Therapy with Priscilla Davis
A Mother’s Touch Massage Therapy is a temporary sanctuary for moms and caregivers. It’s a place where moms can come and tend to themselves for a while, recharge their batteries, and go back to their mommy duties, rested, renergized, and relieved of stress.
What is your background?
I’m a Certified Massage Therapist now but, once upon a time I had a lot of different jobs in retail, customer service, and the medical field. At the time I felt so lost but now, I look back and see how it all came together to help me grow this passion of mine into a heart-centered business.
I’m a mom myself and my little one happens to have Down syndrome. I often get asked if it’s hard being her mom. And my answer is,”Yes. Its hard being ANYBODY’S mom.” I know what is being implied, but truth be told, I am her mom, and I don’t know any different. So, that being said, I had to take her to Physical and Occupational Therapy a few times a week. We were a young family, struggling financially. Mostly getting around on the bus. So, life, in general, was hard. I knew I wanted a better life for my family but I didn’t want to drift from job to job anymore. I also didn’t want to get locked into a career that I wouldn’t be happy in. Massage was always an interest and I finally went for it. I had no idea it would be such a passion for me. As a student, I started to receive massages regularly and was amazed at the difference it was making in me. It changed me from the outside in and inside out. I was relieved of stress, I was more pleasant to be around. I had more energy and more clarity. The mommy fog was lifted! And I was a better mommy, wife, and most importantly a better ME. When I figured that out, I wanted to spread the word to other moms. I wanted them to know that taking care of ourselves doesn’t take away from our families like we think. It actually allows us to give more of who we really are. Not a zombie version of ourselves, dragging our feet from errand to errand and going through life on autopilot. We could actually ENJOY our lives again!
Who is your ideal client?
My ideal client is any woman, who is tired of putting herself on the back burner. My ideal client is ready to take care of herself and take the steps necessary to feel her best. My ideal client understands that filling her well is necessary to fill those of the people she cares for.
I hope my clients find themselves again. I hope my clients find healing like I did. I hope they have a better quality of life.
What kind of massages do you offer?
I offer the traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage but most of my clients love my signature style. My technique is very intuitive and is often a perfect marriage of relaxation and deep tissue work sprinkled with other modalities like myofascial release and Neuroproprioceptor Facilitation (NPC). Each massage session is unique to each client’s needs.
